Campus Reopening

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Dear Members of the KAIS Community,

We appreciate your patience while we continue to move cautiously forward during this pandemic. We are all very happy to announce that KAIS International Elementary & Middle School will be reopening its campus to all students daily starting on Thursday, October 15! All current physical distancing guidelines and safety precautions will continue to be observed, including some new provisions:

  • 10-minute morning breaks to allow for safer transitions and snacks

  • Staggered lunch schedule to reduce the number of students congregating during lunch break

  • Continuation of our late start schedule during Term 1 to allow for safer morning commutes

  • Staggered dismissals by homeroom

  • Continuation of our Morning Care system for current students

  • Use of our Annex space (2F) nearby to support physical distancing at the main building

  • Classroom swaps at the East Wing, including new furniture and installations

  • Provision for students who opt out of coming to campus to join lessons on Zoom (please understand that the quality and consistency of these lessons is difficult to guarantee)

To ensure the successful rollout of this reopening plan, we will need the entire teaching team to help prepare the school spaces and revisit guidelines and expectations. To this end, we would like to schedule one Teacher Planning day on Wednesday, October 14. As a consequence, school will not be held on this day. We understand that this change of plans inconveniences our families, but this planning day will help us ensure the space is safe and ready before the first big day.

We are all excited to finally welcome all students safely back to school on October 15th! Please expect more details and clarification in this Friday’s KAIS EMS News email.
